Poster Artwork Design Competition for Día de Muertos 2023 Ofrenda Exhibit

The Day of the Dead, or Día de Muertos, is a vibrant and meaningful tradition celebrated primarily in Mexico but also in other Latin American countries. This tradition is a beautiful way to remember and honor deceased loved ones while celebrating the cycle of life and death. It showcases the belief that death is not an end but a continuation of the journey, and it provides an opportunity for families to come together in remembrance, reverence, and celebration of the lives and legacies of those who have passed away The Day of the Dead is a deeply rooted and cherished tradition that celebrates the cycle of life and death, and the connection between the living and the deceased.

Casa Azul of Greensboro, North Carolina invites local artists in the Triad region, and community members with artistic talent, to participate in our Call for Entries and 2023 Día de Muertos Poster Artwork Contest.  The process will be a blind competition  meaning judges have no knowledge of the artists' identity prior to making their decisions.

LATITUDES in Afro-Latinx Art

A CALL FOR ARTISTS ENTRY

The Afro-Latinx diaspora spans latitudes. Latitude refers both to a place and a celestial object in relation to the equatorial mark we humans invented. It is an imaginary line around the globe.  It occupies both north and south imaginations. In inviting Latitudes, we are inviting artists to submit artworks and practices that engage with the Afro-Latinx expressions in their diversities, expansions, and imaginations. Across the globe and across the skies, under and above the oceans.

The exhibition is a collaboration between Casa Azul of Greensboro and The African American Atelier and will take place in the The African American Atelier gallery in the Greensboro Cultural Center in September/October of 2023 in North Carolina.
